Harlow has always shaped the future of business, pioneering the use of optical fibre and telecommunications technology, allowing masses of data to be transmitted over huge distances and laying the groundwork for the evolution of the internet.

Still the centre of science, our state-of-the-art laboratories at the GlaxoSmithKline site are poised to become the new base for Public Health England representing an investment of £450million by the public sector. With a science campus and headquarters in Harlow, this will provide employment for 2,750 people.

The Harlow Enterprise Zone has already attracted in £50m from the private sector with an ultimate investment that is likely to reach £300m and has the potential to create up to 5,000 new jobs, many of which will be in high level occupations.
