Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens restoration project underway

A project to restore the historic Grade II listed walls at the Harlow Museum and Walled Gardens is underway. Harlow Council are working with Messenger, a company that specialises in the conservation and repair of historic buildings and monumental sculpture, to undertake the works. The project began with the wall facing First Avenue, removing the old mortar and damaged bricks before replacements are inserted and the mortar made good. This section has now been completed and works are now underway in the 17th Century Garden and the Unusual Fruit Garden. Harlow green spaces awarded the coveted Green Flag Award

Harlow Council is celebrating after once again receiving prestigious Green Flag Awards for Parndon Wood Nature Reserve, Harlow Town Park and Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens. It is Parndon Wood’s 16th consecutive award, the Town Park’s ninth in a row and the Museum Garden’s fifth. The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
