Rebuild of Elm Hatch

In early September 2023, Harlow Council submitted new plans for the redevelopment of Elm Hatch. The plans included 6 brand new council homes and new retail units. The housing scheme will cover derelict land, where the former Hummingbird Pub once sat. The scheme which is a mix of housing and retail units will also include off street parking, renewable energy and more. The next phase includes a public consultation, taking place ahead of a formal planning decision being made. If approved, works on the site could start as early as January 2024.   Find out more here

Regeneration Partnership

In a step closer to delivering town centre and housing regeneration within Harlow, a regeneration partnership investment plan has been approved. The new partnership (launched in June) will help deliver the council’s priorities: rebuild our town and secure investment into Harlow. The first sites announced for redevelopment will be: Former Lister House in Staple Tye Parnall Road in Staple Tye (site purchased by the council earlier this year) Former Occasio House site in Playhouse Square (currently being demolished by the council) Further announcements will be coming soon. Tour of Britain comes to Harlow

The world’s best cyclists are coming to town as they compete in the famous Tour of Britain peloton. The Men's Tour of Britain is set to finish Stage Six of the race in Harlow Friday 8 September, 2023. The race will start in Southend-on-Sea and arrive in Harlow at around 3.15pm via Water Lane. The race will finish at around 3.30pm along Third Avenue. Times are subject to change. Spectators are invited to join the celebrations and watch as the high speed cyclists finish their final leg of Stage Six in Harlow. NEW Harlow Cycle Map

Harlow has a huge cycle track network linking up all areas of the town. Most destinations within Harlow are less than 6 miles from each other, making cycling an ideal way to travel. It is often quicker to cycle than drive, especially during peak times. The new cycle map has been developed as part of the Council’s preparation for the Tour of Britain. The updated cycle map includes new developments and routes that were not included on the previous version.
